Thor: Ragnarok
The Norse god Thor finds himself imprisoned without his mighty hammer and must race against time to prevent the prophetic destruction of his home world, Asgard, at the hands of his ruthless sister Hela. Stranded on the alien planet Sakaar, Thor must fight as a gladiator and team up with his fellow Avenger Hulk, his treacherous brother Loki, and a skilled warrior named Valkyrie to escape and save his people. The film features diverse casting with Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, a bisexual character whose LGBTQ+ identity is subtly referenced, and includes themes of colonialism, refugee displacement, and finding strength through community. This action-comedy balances spectacular superhero battles with humor and explores themes of identity, family responsibility, and breaking free from destructive cycles.
