From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler

Claudia and her younger brother Jamie run away from home and secretly live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, sleeping in antique beds and bathing in the museum fountain. While hiding in the museum, they become fascinated by a mysterious statue that might be the work of Michelangelo and decide to solve the mystery of its origins. Their adventure leads them to the reclusive Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, the statue's former owner, who teaches them important lessons about independence, self-discovery, and what it truly means to feel different and special. The story explores themes of sibling relationships, growing up, art appreciation, and the desire to prove oneself.
